Asiamah’s re-election was facilitated by the Member of Parliament for Nsawam Adoagyiri, Frank Annor Dompreh, who nominated him, and the Member of Parliament for Tamale South, who seconded the motion. Speaker Alban Bagbin declared Asiamah duly elected in the absence of any other nominations during the 1st meeting of the 9th Parliament.
Asiamah’s journey to this position is a remarkable one. Born on February 24, 1966, in Wioso-Adansi, Ashanti Region, he holds multiple academic qualifications, including an MSc in Environmental Resources Management, Master of Arts in Conflict Resolution, and an LLB (Law) from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology.
Before entering politics, Asiamah worked as a legal practitioner and held various positions, including Estates Officer, Land Officer, and Valuer at the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly. He first won the Fomena parliamentary seat in 2016 under the New Patriotic Party (NPP) ticket but later broke away to run as an independent candidate in the 2020 elections, securing 12,805 votes.
Asiamah’s re-election as 2nd Deputy Speaker is a testament to his experience and leadership skills. He chairs the Members Holding Offices of Profit Committee and is a member of several other committees, including the Standing Orders Committee, Subsidiary Legislation Committee, Education Committee, and Mines and Energy Committee.
