Annual New Year’s Greetings Event Strengthens Diplomatic Ties

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration recently hosted its annual New Year’s Greetings event at the Presidential lodge in Peduase on 4th March, 2024.

This gathering brought together members of the diplomatic corps to foster strong ties and goodwill between Ghana and various countries as well as International Organisations.

During the event, the Minister for Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey, expressed gratitude to the diplomatic community for their unwavering support during the United Nations Peace Keeping Ministerial Meeting in Accra held in December, 2023. She emphasized the importance of such gatherings in strengthening the enduring relations between Ghana and other nations.

In attendance was the President of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, who highlighted the strong friendship and mutual cooperation that exists between Ghana and the countries represented by the attendees. He encouraged Heads of Mission to focus on enhancing bilateral relations for positive outcomes.

The Dean of the Diplomatic Corps and Lebanese Ambassador to Ghana, Maher Kheir, also spoke at the event, emphasizing the unity among nations and shared values needed to address global challenges. The presence of Government Officials, Senior Officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, and Traditional and Religious leaders added to the significance of the occasion.

The annual New Year’s Greetings event serves as a platform for strengthening diplomatic ties, promoting cooperation, and reinforcing the relationships that Ghana shares with other countries, contributing to peace and prosperity on a global scale.
