In an exclusive interview with Apexnewsgh Ngamegbulam Chidozie Ngamegbulam Stephen on Saturday, Rev. Dr. Samuel Worlanyo Mensah, the running mate for the All People’s Congress (APC), expressed deep concern over the crippling cost of living and the rapid depreciation of the cedi in Ghana. Apexnewsgh reportsÂ
“Most Ghanaian workers are struggling to make ends meet due to the escalating cost of living and the continuous decline of the cedi,” Rev. Dr. Mensah lamented. “The situation has become unbearable, with prices of goods and services skyrocketing, making life extremely difficult.”
He highlighted the recent surge in rent costs as a significant factor exacerbating the plight of Ghanaian workers. “The economic hardship and lack of value for money have emboldened landlords to increase rents astronomically, complicating life for ordinary citizens,” Rev. Dr. Mensah noted.
Rev. Dr. Mensah criticized the Rent Control Department for its ineffectiveness in enforcing regulations, leaving tenants vulnerable to exploitation. “It’s alarming that the department seems powerless in addressing these issues,” he said.
The APC running mate urged the government to take immediate action to alleviate the suffering of Ghanaians. “We need decisive measures to control the unwarranted cost of rent expenses and provide relief to the ordinary citizen,” Rev. Dr. Mensah emphasized.
His call to action echoes the concerns of many Ghanaians struggling to cope with the economic challenges facing the country.
As the nation grapples with these issues, Rev. Dr. Mensah’s words serve as a reminder of the urgent need for effective solutions to mitigate the hardship faced by the average Ghanaian.
