Vice President and Flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has announced plans to establish common-user processing facilities in various mining districts across Ghana if elected as President. Apexnewsgh reports

This initiative aims to promote responsible and sustainable mining practices, ensuring that mining activities benefit the country as a whole.

Speaking at the 3rd Annual Transformational Dialogue on Small Scale Mining in Sunyani, Dr. Bawumia emphasized the importance of environmentally friendly and efficient processing options for miners. He stated, “I will establish common-user processing facilities to facilitate mining in the various districts in the country.” These facilities will provide an alternative to illegal mining activities, known as “galamsey,” and contribute to the fight against environmental degradation.

Dr. Bawumia also announced plans to establish Community Environmental Protection Assistants, working under the Minerals Commission and Environmental Protection Agency, to safeguard the environment and water bodies. He stressed that mining should serve the collective good of the country, prioritizing environmental conservation and community well-being.

This initiative is part of Dr. Bawumia’s vision for sustainable and responsible mining practices, aiming to reduce the negative impacts of mining on the environment and local communities.

By providing legal and sustainable processing options, the NPP Flagbearer believes that illegal mining activities can be significantly reduced or eliminated, promoting a more environmentally friendly and socially responsible mining industry in Ghana.
