Bawumia Slams Mahama: “How Can We Have a Leader Who Doesn’t Appreciate Digitization?
New Patriotic Party (NPP) congregated to hear their presidential candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, deliver a compelling address. Apexnewsgh reports
The event, aimed at engaging the youth, quickly turned into a platform for Bawumia to mount a vigorous critique of his chief rival, former president John Dramani Mahama.
With the room full of enthusiastic young Ghanaians, Bawumia did not hold back. He launched a scathing attack on Mahama’s approach to economic growth, labeling it outdated in a rapidly evolving, technology-driven world. “How can we have a leader who doesn’t appreciate the value of digitization in a digital global economy?” he posed, stirring thoughts among the crowd.
He emphasized that Mahama’s previous tenure had resulted in significant economic challenges, making him ill-suited to lead during a time that demands innovation and adaptation.
Bawumia argued passionately for a future focused on digital innovation, urging his compatriots to reject Mahama in the upcoming December elections. He dismissed Mahama’s focus on infrastructure as misguided, asserting that the NPP’s emphasis on a digital-first strategy was the key to unlocking Ghana’s economic potential.
Critiquing Mahama’s ’24-Hour Economy’ proposal, he claimed it lacked clarity and practicality, stating that it “has defied explanation and understanding.”
However, Mahama, speaking earlier at the 9th Ghana CEO Network Business Cocktail, outlined an optimistic vision with his ’24-Hour Economy’ initiative. He aimed to transform Ghana into a fully functioning, round-the-clock economy, targeting sectors such as hospitality, e-commerce, transportation, and healthcare. His proposal promised job creation and economic stimulation, showcasing a comprehensive plan that resonated with many of his supporters.
As Bawumia concluded his address, he confidently proclaimed his readiness to lead the nation with a fresh perspective. “In me, you will have a brand new, tear-rubber president, not a second-hand failed president,” he asserted, which drew cheers from the crowd.
The tension between the two candidates was palpable, as the battle for Ghana’s economic future unfolded, showcasing a stark contrast between their visions for the country’s growth and development. The upcoming elections were poised to be a defining moment in shaping Ghana’s path forward.
