Embattled Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, is expected to report to the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) today, June 4, as part of his bail conditions. Chairman Wontumi was released on bail on Monday, June 2, after spending days in custody following his arrest on May 27.

The bail was set at GH₵50 million, with stringent conditions attached, including regular reporting to EOCO while investigations continue. Chairman Wontumi’s release comes after he was granted bail by the court, which also imposed other conditions to ensure his compliance with the investigation.

Chairman Wontumi is currently being investigated for a range of serious offences, including fraud, causing financial loss to the state, and money laundering. The investigation is ongoing, and EOCO is expected to gather more evidence and interview relevant witnesses to determine the extent of Chairman Wontumi’s involvement in the alleged crimes.

As part of his bail conditions, Chairman Wontumi is required to report regularly to EOCO, which will likely provide an opportunity for the investigators to gather more information and clarify any discrepancies in the case. The outcome of the investigation will determine whether Chairman Wontumi will face charges or be cleared of any wrongdoing.
