Defence Minister Directs Contractors to Submit Outstanding Issues on Afari Military Hospital

Minister for Defence, Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, has directed Euroget De-Invest, the project’s contractors, to submit all outstanding financial, legal, and technical issues to the Defence Ministry. Apexnewsgh reports

This move follows a meeting between the Ministry and the contractors on Wednesday, February 19, 2025, aimed at resolving the bottlenecks that have delayed the project for over six years.

Dr. Boamah reiterated the government’s commitment to completing the hospital and ensuring it becomes operational by September this year.

He recalled his promise to Otumfuo Osei Tutu II to complete the project, which was initially envisioned to be finished by 2018 under President John Dramani Mahama’s administration. However, delays under the previous administration have hindered the project’s progress.

The Defence Minister emphasized that the government is committed to protecting the public purse while ensuring the hospital becomes fully functional. “We have demanded that Euroget formally submit their outstanding issues, which will allow us to scrutinize and contest any concerns, ensuring cost-effective and lawful decisions towards project completion,” Dr. Boamah explained.

With the government’s renewed commitment to completing the Afari Military Hospital, the project is expected to gain momentum, bringing relief to the military personnel and civilians who will benefit from the hospital’s services.
