Deputy Attorney-General Praises Police for Professional Handling of #GalamseyMustFall Protest
Deputy Attorney-General and Deputy Minister for Justice, Dr. Justice Srem Sai, paid a visit to the #GalamseyMustFall demonstration grounds near the Flagstaff House on Monday. Apexnewsgh reports
He commended the Ghana Police Service for their professional handling of the protest, noting that the demonstrators expressed satisfaction with the security arrangements.
According to Dr. Srem Sai, the police provided “optimal protection” to the protesters throughout the event. The protest, which was scheduled to run into the early hours of the morning, concluded peacefully ahead of time.
Dr. Srem Sai interacted with protest leaders and conveyed the appreciation of President John Dramani Mahama and Attorney-General Dr. Dominic Ayine to the police for ensuring that the demonstrators could exercise their constitutional right to peaceful assembly without incident.
The #GalamseyMustFall protest drew significant public attention, with participation from environmental activists, civil society organizations, and concerned citizens demanding more decisive action against illegal mining.
