Thomas Nyarko Ampem, the Deputy Finance Minister-designate, has vowed to harness the power of technology to increase Ghana’s revenue. Apexnewsgh reports
Appearing before the Appointments Committee of Parliament on Monday, February 24, Ampem emphasized the crucial role of technological advancements in mobilizing funds to finance government operations.
Ampem’s strategy involves collaborating with the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) to leverage technology and enhance revenue mobilization. He believes that with the right leadership and incentives, the experienced officials at the GRA can help achieve this goal. “Without technology, we will not be able to achieve the target we’re setting for ourselves,” Ampem stated.
The Deputy Finance Minister-designate also highlighted plans to build upon existing technologies to improve efficiency in public finance management. He assured that the government will deploy all available infrastructure to achieve this goal. Ampem’s approach is two-pronged, focusing on aggressively pursuing revenue generation while cutting expenditure.
Ampem’s nomination as Deputy Finance Minister-designate is part of President John Dramani Mahama’s efforts to strengthen the country’s economic management. If confirmed, Ampem will work alongside Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson to focus on the government’s economic recovery agenda.
