Apexnewsgh

A group emanating from the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Ashanti Region calling itself Grassroots Delegates has threatened to vote out Members of Parliament (MPs) who are forcing the grassroots delegates to vote for the Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, in the party’s upcoming presidential primaries.

Speaking at a press conference in Kumasi on Thursday, March 16, 2023, Executive Member of the group, Mr. Frederick Owusu, alleged that some of the MPs have taken vast sums of money from Dr. Bawumia and have been putting pressure on the grassroots delegates to vote for him.

According to him, these MPs follow Dr. Bawumia to funerals instead of doing their core mandate as Legislators, they will engage in their parochial interest.

He further explained that these MPs have also been putting fear in the delegates by threatening that if they do not vote for the Vice President, they will lose their voting power in the party.

He however, reminded the said MPs that the delegates have a conscience and will not be swayed by these vile threats.
