Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Vice President of the Republicof Ghana has addressed a High-Level Diasporan Forum organised by the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) in Accra on Friday, April 22, and stressed the unbreakable link between Africa and its descendants, their potential contributions to the development of the African continent, and the need to continue to open doors for them back to their roots.
Meanwhile, addressing the High-Level Diasporans, Dr. Bawumia underscored the role Ghana has played in promoting Africa and Africans in the Diaspora through initiatives such as “Year of Return” and “Beyond the Return” and also reaffirmed Ghana’s commitment to champion the objectives of the International Decade of People of African Descent as envisioned by the UN General Assembly. Even at the AU level, these issues will continue to be emphasised and with the urgency it deserves.
