In a press conference on December 8, 2024, Bawumia graciously congratulated Mahama, acknowledging his significant lead in the polls.

Bawumia revealed that he had personally called Mahama to offer his congratulations, stating, “The people of Ghana have spoken, and we respect their decision with humility”. He emphasized that his concession was motivated by a desire to maintain peace and avoid further tensions in the country.

The NDC has secured a decisive victory in both the presidential and parliamentary elections, although final results are still being collated. Bawumia acknowledged this, saying, “Former President Mahama and the NDC have won decisively… I believe those results will not change the outcome.”

This concession marks a significant moment in Ghana’s electoral history, showcasing Bawumia’s commitment to democratic principles and peaceful transitions.
