The Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia will be commissioning two exciting projects in Walewale, North East Region. Apexnewsgh reports
The first project is the Walewale Watermelon Factory, which is part of the government’s One District One Factory programme. This initiative is expected to provide various forms of employment for the people of Walewale, a town renowned for its watermelon production, and also help reduce post-harvest waste.
The factory, a subsidiary of Champion Foods and Beverages Limited, a Ghanaian-owned company, is projected to produce approximately 10 metric tonnes of watermelon and various juice beverages daily when operating at optimal capacity. This is a significant boost to the local economy and a testament to the government’s commitment to supporting local industries.
But that’s not all – Dr. Bawumia will also be commissioning the brand-new Walewale Central Mosque, a facility that has been made possible through his facilitation. The mosque features gender-specific worship chambers and offices, providing much-needed relief to the growing number of worshippers in the town. The commissioning of the mosque coincides with Friday Jummah prayers, making it an even more special occasion, with traditional rulers, imams, and worshippers from the local and surrounding communities in attendance.
Interestingly, Dr. Bawumia had originally cut the sod for the factory’s construction back in 2019, demonstrating his ongoing commitment to the region’s development. As the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer, Dr. Bawumia’s dedication to improving the lives of Ghanaians is evident in projects like these.
