Electoral Commission to Scrutinize Presidential Nomination Forms

Apexnewsgh

As the submission of presidential nomination forms approaches, the Electoral Commission (EC) has announced its intention to thoroughly scrutinize the documents to ensure only eligible candidates are cleared to contest the elections. Apexnewsgh reports

According to Chairperson Jean Mensa, the EC has developed a detailed checklist to guide the review process, embodying the criteria prescribed by law. A team has been established to score and award marks to each nomination form submitted, ensuring a transparent, credible, and accountable process.

This practice is not new, as similar measures were taken in the 2020 elections. Two teams have been established: a technical team to review forms and ensure candidates meet the legal qualifications, and an IT team to verify the voter ID cards of candidates and their supporters.

Both teams have received the necessary orientation to discharge their duties under the law. Madam Mensa expressed confidence that the process will be “transparent, fair, and peaceful,” ensuring that only qualified candidates are cleared to contest the elections.

With the EC’s rigorous scrutiny, the nomination process is set to be a critical hurdle for presidential hopefuls, ensuring that only those who meet the legal requirements can proceed to the next stage.
