On Thursday, August 7th, 2025, a delegation of executives from the Upper West Union in the Upper East Region paid a courtesy visit to the residence of Dr. Hafiz Bin Salih, former Regional Minister for Upper West and Upper East Regions.
Led by the Chairman and other executives, the team was warmly received by representatives of the former minister, headed by Chief Anyaa, in the minister’s absence.
During the visit, the executives expressed their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Hafiz for his instrumental role in revitalizing the union during his tenure as Upper East Regional Minister.
They recounted how the union, which was established in the 1970s, had become dormant in the 1980s and fragmented into smaller groups, such as the Waala Union, Sissala Union, and Daagaba Union, among others.
The delegation highlighted the former minister’s hospitality and support, which had significantly contributed to the union’s resurgence. They also acknowledged the late father of Dr. Bin Salih, Alhaji Alhassan Bin Salih, who had played a pivotal role in the union’s early formation in the early 1970s.
As a token of appreciation, the union presented a beautifully wrapped gift, consisting of a traditional smock, citation, and the union’s flag, to Chief Anyaa, representing Dr. Bin Salih. In response, Chief Anyaa conveyed Dr. Bin Salih’s gratitude emphasized the importance of such unions in fostering a sense of belonging among members, even when they are away from home.
He urged the executives to hold firmly to the union’s objectives and relayed Dr. Bin Salih’s message, encouraging them to work together to build commitment and strengthen the union.
The visit concluded on a positive note, with both parties reaffirming their commitment to collaboration and mutual support.
