Expert Calls for Government Action to Address Ghana’s Power Outages

Dr. Charles Gyamfi Ofori, Policy Lead and Climate Change & Energy Transition Director at the Africa Centre for Energy Policy (ACEP), has added his voice to the growing concerns over Ghana’s persistent power outages. Apexnewsgh reports

Speaking on ABC’s morning show, Dr. Gyamfi emphasized that the government bears the primary responsibility for resolving the crisis and ensuring a stable power supply.

Despite changes in administration, the fundamental issue remains unchanged: many Ghanaians still lack consistent access to electricity. Dr. Gyamfi acknowledged that citizens have every right to be frustrated over the prolonged outages and urged authorities to take decisive action.

Dr. Gyamfi called on the government to be more proactive in resolving the power crisis, highlighting the need for transparency in managing the energy sector. He stressed that addressing distribution inefficiencies and curbing technical and commercial losses are crucial steps towards finding a lasting solution.

According to Dr. Gyamfi, honesty and accountability in the sector’s management will be key to overcoming the challenges facing Ghana’s energy sector.
