Felix Kwakye Ofosu Sets the Record Straight on GHS78 Million Allocation

A recent controversy surrounding the allocation of GHS78 million to the office of Minister of State for Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, has been clarified. Apexnewsgh reports

The Minority caucus had raised concerns about the substantial expenditure, but Kwakye Ofosu has dismissed these claims, emphasizing that the allocation is not for his personal office.

Speaking on Citi FM’s Eyewitness News, Kwakye Ofosu explained that the GHS78 million allocation is actually designated for three longstanding state agencies under his supervision: the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC), the Information Services Department (ISD), and the Ghana News Agency (GNA).

“These agencies are not new creations, but established institutions with a long history of public service,” Kwakye Ofosu stated. “The ISD, for instance, has been in existence for 85 years, just like the GBC and GNA.”

Kwakye Ofosu broke down the allocation, revealing that GHS8.8 million is for goods and services, while GHS70 million is for capital expenditure. He reiterated that these funds are strictly for the operations of the three agencies, not his office.

The Minority caucus had expressed concerns about the justification for such a substantial expenditure, with Tano North Member of Parliament Gideon Boako questioning the need for such a large allocation. However, Kwakye Ofosu’s clarification has provided insight into the actual purpose of the funds.
