FIFA President extends condolences to families of footballers who perished in a car accident

The President of the Federation of International Football Association (FIFA) Mr. Gianni Infantino has expressed his condolences to the footballers involved in Saturday’s terrible car accident on the Offinso road.

In a letter directed to the Ghana Football Association (GFA) sited by, the President of the World governing body of football extended his support to the families of the seven footballers who through the accident and to those who got injured through the accident especially when the unfortunate incident happened in the Offin River.

“It is with great shock and deep sadness that I send you this message, after learning of the tragic death of eight young football players following a car accident at Offinso, in the Ashanti Region,” a letter from FIFA President to GFA President Kurt Edwin Simeon Okraku.

However, he said, on behalf of FIFA and the world football community, they would like to express their condolences to the Ghana Football Association, the National Juvenile Committee, and above all, to the families, friends, and loved ones of the victims.

Their thoughts also go out to the injured to whom they wish a prompt and full recovery. He stressed that the international football community expresses its deepest sympathy to all of them at this very painful time.
