The Ghana Chamber of Telecommunication has announced that internet connectivity across the country has been restored to almost 100% following a recent disruption in service.
The disruption, caused by cable issues undersea, left many businesses in a state of frustration and confusion as data service provision was interrupted.
After working tirelessly to resolve the issue, some telecommunication companies have communicated to their consumers that the network has been fully restored. Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Chamber of Telecommunication, Dr. Ing. Ken Ashigbe, confirmed that service providers have utilized alternative solutions and are almost at peak capacity.
Dr. Ing. Ashigbe explained, “The telcos have been working together with undersea cable partners and other international partners to bring connectivity back and restore capacity. Customers can expect improvements in service, including faster WhatsApp messaging, immediate file downloads, and enhanced access to various applications.”
He also mentioned that some telcos were less impacted by the disruption due to redundancy in their networks, allowing them to handle peak loads more effectively. Overall, Dr. Ing. Ashigbe expressed confidence that consumers would notice significant improvements in their internet connectivity experience.
With internet connectivity nearly restored to peak capacity, businesses and individuals in Ghana can once again enjoy reliable data service provision and seamless online experiences.
