As Ghana prepares to celebrate its 68th Independence Anniversary at the Jubilee House, excitement fills the air, but residents of Accra need to be mindful of temporary road closures and diversions announced by the Ghana Police Service. Apexnewsgh reports
This necessary measure aims to ensure a secure and successful celebration.
Starting from the day of the event, several roads in the city will be closed to vehicular traffic, with plans to reopen them after the festivities wrap up.
Key locations affected by these closures include the Liberation Road at the Opeabia Intersection, the 37 Intersection leading to the Central Business District, and Independence Avenue at the Ako-Adjei Bypass. In addition, the Presidential Drive around Jubilee House will also face blockages, particularly at the John Hammond Road and TV 3 Junction, as well as Kanda Link.
To ease the inconvenience for motorists, the police have implemented diversions. Those traveling on Liberation Road from the Airport towards Accra will be diverted onto Alliance Francaise Road or the Airport Bypass.
Meanwhile, vehicles approaching Independence Avenue from Accra will be rerouted at the Ako Adjei Interchange onto Ring Road Central. Motorists coming from Club 10 and Kanda Post Office should expect to be diverted at Kanda Link onto Sunyani and Kade Avenue.
