Ghana’s Parliament has announced the start of the registration process for newly elected Members of Parliament (MPs-elect) ahead of the inauguration of the 9th Parliament of the 4th Republic. Apexnewsgh reports
This registration exercise is a crucial step in preparing for the swearing-in ceremony of the new Parliament and ensuring a smooth transition to its operations.
The registration process will be conducted in two phases. The first phase, which began on December 25, 2024, is an online registration phase. This will be followed by an in-person phase from January 2 to January 6, 2025. To facilitate the registration process, targeted messages inviting members will be sent via WhatsApp or email.
Members who require further assistance or clarification can contact the officers in charge of the registration exercise at 055 022 2200 or 050 363 4466. This ensures that all MPs-elect can complete the registration process smoothly and efficiently.
The upcoming inauguration of the 9th Parliament marks an important milestone in Ghana’s democratic process. As outlined by the Electoral Commission of Ghana, parliamentary elections are held every four years to elect representatives to the National Assembly (Parliament) using the First Past The Post (FPTP) system.
