The Deputy Minister for the Interior, Naana Eyiah, has expressed the government’s strong determination to ensure the safety of all Ghanaians. According to the Deputy Minister, the government’s commitment to the safety of its citizens is evident through its efforts to procure and deliver 200 Rapid Intervention Vehicles (RIV) to bolster the resources of the GNFS. This initiative is aimed at enhancing the GNFS’s capacity to respond swiftly and effectively to fire incidents and other emergencies.
Deputy Minister Naana Eyiah commended the Chief Fire Officer and his management team for their dedicated commitment to the Fire Safety Week Celebration, which aims to raise awareness about the devastating effects of fire on lives and properties. She acknowledged the efforts of the hard-working officers of the GNFS in controlling fire outbreaks in the country.
However, the Deputy Minister also emphasized the need for increased observance and compliance with fire safety practices. While the GNFS has made progress in delivering fire safety messages, she noted that there is still work to be done to ensure that individuals and communities prioritize their safety.
In her speech, the Deputy Minister called for collaboration among government agencies, educational institutions, corporate organizations, and community leaders to actively promote fire safety practices. She assured the public that the government will provide the necessary resources and support to the GNFS, including modern firefighting equipment and training for firefighters.
She however, Deputy Minister Naana Eyiah reiterated the government’s commitment to the safety of all Ghanaians and urged citizens to actively participate in the Fire Safety Week Celebration. She emphasized the importance of adopting fire prevention measures and adhering to fire safety practices to create a safer environment for everyone.
