This promise was made during a press conference in Accra on Monday, February 3, where Ocloo emphasized her commitment to addressing the issue of faulty streetlights.

Ocloo assured that she will work closely with the various Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Assemblies (MMDAs) to restore the streetlights. “In fact, within 50 days in office, all these things should be fixed. I will make sure that at least 70 percent of the streetlights should be fixed,” she stated.

In addition to improving street lighting, Ocloo also announced plans to promote environmental sanitation in the region. This includes the reintroduction of the National Sanitation Day and a Cleanest City Award, aimed at encouraging a competitive and responsible approach to waste management.

As part of the National Democratic Congress’s (NDC) “Clean Up Ghana” agenda, a Regional Sanitation Day will be observed on the last Friday of every month. This initiative aims to improve environmental cleanliness and waste management across the region.
