The Hajj Village project has been generating buzz lately, with many Ghanaians curious about its purpose and funding. Recently, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, Spokesperson to the President, clarified some key points about the project. Apexnewsgh reports
According to Kwakye Ofosu, the Hajj Village is owned and being constructed by the Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL), with no taxpayer money involved. “The Hajj Village is primarily an Airport Terminal Building for check-in and pilgrim facilitation owned and being built by the Ghana Airport Company,” he emphasized.
Kwakye Ofosu further explained that the Ghana Airport Company develops and manages air travel facilities for profit, and the Hajj Village is one such facility. This clarification helps to alleviate concerns about the project’s funding and purpose.
President John Dramani Mahama officially launched the construction of the new Hajj Village on February 28. The facility aims to provide a smooth and dignified experience for Muslim pilgrims traveling from Ghana to Mecca, Saudi Arabia, for spiritual rites.
