Hon. Awineyesema Abiire has expressed his support for President John Dramani Mahama’s decision to submit documents related to the Oral to the Attorney General. Apexnewsgh reports
This move has sparked debate among the public, with some arguing that the documents should have been submitted directly to the Special Prosecutor.
However, Abiire believes that submitting the documents to the Attorney General is the best course of action.
He explained that the Special Prosecutor operates under the Attorney General, and therefore, it is essential to involve the Attorney General in the process.
The Bolgatanga Technical University lecturer further emphasized that the Attorney General’s office can review the documents, determine which cases require further investigation, and allocate them to the appropriate anti-corruption units. This approach ensures that each case is handled efficiently and effectively.
He also highlighted the importance of proving cases beyond a reasonable doubt, unlike civil prosecutions, which rely on the balance of probability. Hon. Abiire believes that submitting the documents to the Attorney General allows for a more thorough examination of each case, ensuring that only strong cases are pursued.
Honorable Hon. Abiire supports the President’s decision to submit the Oral documents to the Attorney General, citing the importance of efficiency, effectiveness, and thoroughness in addressing corruption cases.
