The IGP expressed regret over inadequate police engagement with the family during the investigation.

According to a statement from the Ghana Police Service, the Police received a report on June 8, 2024, that Ms. Koranteng had been found unconscious in the hotel pool. Despite attempts to revive her, she was pronounced dead at the hospital. The Police investigation found no signs of assault, and an autopsy conducted at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital revealed the cause of death as asphyxia, severe pulmonary edema, and drowning.

The IGP’s apology comes after the family expressed dissatisfaction with the police engagement. He assured the family that the investigation is ongoing and promised to provide updates on the progress made. The tragic incident occurred during a business trip to the Western Region, where Lois was accompanied by her boss and driver. Her body was discovered floating in the pool, wearing only her bra and panties.
