Investigations into National Service and SkyTrain Scandals Near Completion–Attorney General

After months of investigation, the Attorney-General and Minister of Justice, Dr. Dominic Ayine, has announced that the National Service and SkyTrain scandals are nearing their conclusion. Apexnewsgh reports

By mid-April, the investigations are expected to be wrapped up, paving the way for prosecutions to begin.

In the National Service scandal, eight suspects have been questioned, with some cooperating with investigators. Evidence suggests that top executives received payments from vendors and staff, and that the CEO and others allegedly bribed a Ghanaian MP to suppress the story.

The SkyTrain scandal has also seen significant developments. Dr. Ayine confirmed that $2 million was paid at the request of Prof. Ameyaw Ekumfi and Mr. Solomon Asamoah. However, Asamoah has fled to Senegal and refuses to return to Ghana.

Dr. Ayine warned that if Asamoah fails to return, he will be tried in absentia. Prof. Ekumfi, who facilitated the fund transfer, will face prosecution.

Dr. Ayine reaffirmed the government’s commitment to fighting corruption and ensuring accountability within public institutions. With the investigations nearing completion, justice may soon be served.
