This historic moment cemented Mahama’s place as the sixth person to be elected to the nation’s highest office, following in the footsteps of former Presidents Jerry John Rawlings, John Agyekum Kufuor, John Evans Atta Mills, and William Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

Mahama’s return to the presidency is a remarkable feat, as he makes history as the only sitting President to lose his re-election bid and come back to be voted as President to complete his constitutionally mandated term.
