John Dramani Mahama, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate, has made a bold promise to tackle Ghana’s growing kidney disease crisis. Apexnewsgh reports
During the inauguration of the Lordina Foundation Maternity and Children’s Ward in Bodom, Mahama announced plans to establish modern dialysis centers across the country.¹ This move aims to provide accessible healthcare services, especially for managing chronic illnesses.
“Kidney disease has become a pressing issue in Ghana,” Mahama stated. “Ensuring access to dialysis centers in every region will provide essential treatment within reach of all Ghanaians.” This commitment is part of Mahama’s broader vision to strengthen Ghana’s healthcare system, ensuring quality medical care for all citizens, regardless of location.
But that’s not all – Mahama also unveiled the Ghana Medical Care Trust, dubbed “Mahama Cares.” This comprehensive fund will support the management of chronic illnesses, including kidney disease, diabetes, cancer, hypertension, and sickle cell disease.
The trust will be funded by both government and private contributions, providing financial assistance to those affected and enhancing healthcare infrastructure.
Mahama’s proposal is not an isolated promise; it’s part of his overall policy framework. His 24-hour economy strategy, for instance, aims to boost productivity and economic expansion. With these initiatives, Mahama hopes to restore Ghana’s economy and improve national life.
