Former Nigerian international Joseph Yobo has expressed reservations about the Super Eagles’ recent victory over Guinea-Bissau in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.

During the game, Nigeria took the lead in the 37th minute when Opa Sangante inadvertently scored an own goal while defending against Victor Osimhen.

Yobo, who was a guest on Afrosports AFCON Coverage, acknowledged the team’s triumph but admitted that he was not entirely convinced by their performance.

Yobo highlighted the lack of cohesion in the midfield as one of the areas that needs improvement, stating that the team has yet to find the right balance in that area of the pitch.

He noted that the team has more attacking players than midfielders, but expressed confidence that once Alex Iwobi is fully integrated into the squad, the Super Eagles will create more goal-scoring opportunities.

Despite his concerns, Yobo praised the team for their ability to keep a clean sheet in the match. He commented that this positive result demonstrated that the defense is performing well and doing something right.

meanwhile, Yobo acknowledged Nigeria’s victory, he emphasized the need for the team to work on their midfield cohesion and maximize their attacking potential in order to secure more convincing victories in the future.
