Just In: residents numbering 22 were admitted at the hospital for consuming alleged food poisoning

In the Nkwanta South Municipality of the Oti Region, Agou, some residents have been hospitalized following some alleged food poisoning in the farming community.

According to sources, residents, about 22, who ate food prepared at a funeral they attended in the community on Sunday, 14 May 2023, have been vomiting. 

 Some of the victims say they were served a locally brewed drink; pito, rice, Banku, and meat at the funeral.

As of the time of this publication, thirteen of the victims are on admission at the Nkwanta South Municipal Hospital and nine were also admitted at the St. Joseph Catholic Hospital also in Nkwanta.

Meanwhile, samples of the victims have since been taken to conduct some laboratory tests.

However, the good news is that victims who are reported to have all gone to the hospital with similar complaints are responding to treatment.
