Community members of Kajelo in the Kessena-Nankana West District of the Upper East Region have accused the Ghana Police Service of brutalities.
According to a Meta post sighted by Apexnewsgh.com, a citizen from the area posted, “The Police in Paga must be called to order with immediate effect!
I think it’s high time the Ghana police were told why the police outfit was charged from Ghana police force to Ghana Police Service.
What impunity!”
However, when the poster was contacted for more details he explained, “…the Police went into a community called Kajelo whipping anyone they meet on their way and going into houses and beating people up with the excuse that their barrier was thrown away by the youth last two nights and even when the Assembly member of the Area came to see how he could find a solution to the problem, he was equally whipped alongside community members”. The Meta post said.
Even though there have been some disturbing pictures flying on social media which is said to have been emanating from the area.
When Aexnewsgh.com contacted the Upper East Regional police public relations officer, ASP David Fianko-Okyere, he denied the community accusation against the police.
He said, “Honestly, police will not go burning properties, we are rather protecting lives and properties. If there is any burning of a motorbike, that wouldn’t come from police”.
He said, the people of Baloo-Kayilo community attacked the police by taking away barricades situated in the area checkpoint after issuing a warning to the police.
He said some community members have been arrested already and will soon be prosecuted.
