Kennedy Agyapong narrates how Chairman Samba and North East Regional Chairman rejected him during his visit
Member of Parliament for Assin Central, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong has expressed frustration following his rejection in the Northern Region by Northern Regional Chairman Samba and in the North East Region by the North East Regional Chairman of governing NPP.
Addressing Party regional and constituency executives on Sunday at Blue Sky Hotel in Zuarungu Bolgatanga East in the Upper East Region, the outspoken Lawmaker says, “It looks as if the NPP will not learn, we don’t learn in the sense that we have 160 Parliamentarians but because of internal struggles, we lost most of the seats. I thought this would have been a lesson to us but we are still doing the same thing”.
He further said, for a party that wants to break the 8, the party should listen to the prayer said by the Tempane Women’s Organiser.
“Why do we say Break The 8? we say Break The 8 because the norm is that every 8 years no matter your performance Ghanaians want to change parties but this time we are saying that we are going to go beyond 8 years. If we are going to go beyond 8 years, we should listen to the prayer of the Women Organizer for Tempane. We need unity because if there is no unity and antagonizing each other, those who are not strong to voice out will just go and sit at their corner quietly and watch without going to vote, and those who have a loud mouth like me will speak their mind”.
Explaining what happened when he visited the Northern and North East Region, Mr. Agyapong said the two regional party Chairmen directed Regional and constituency executives not to meet with him. He believes the chairmen are not doing Dr. Bawumia’s campaign any good.
“Something has happen when we went to Northern Region, Chairman Samba asked the constituency executive chairmen not to meet me. North East Chairman, has also done the same thing. but here, thanks to the Chairman and Regional Executives. The Northern Region the Regional Executives failed to meet me, North East the Regional Executives failed to meet me but I assure you, I will beat them back. Dr. Bawumia, these chairmen are destroying his campaign because Bawumia can’t win an election without me, I can’t win an election without him, we need unity. They actually called the constituency executives not to meet me”.
“Now, we have 5 regions in the northern region and I can assure you, your number is 31,800 we have regions Western, Western North, and Central Region, and the number is 35,000 so if you want to play tribal we will go to opposition and we don’t need that. If we go into a fair election and Dr. Bawumia wins, am going to fully support him. But if there is no fair election, I have a TV station, I have a radio station and I have a mouth. I am not somebody that anybody can bully. What they are doing is not good for you and for the north. Chairman you can call them, they are your colleague chairmen, because I can call their bluff and within 4 months I can shut down Bawumia’s campaign because ever since they started, is a dirty campaign that they doing”.
Mr. Agyapong is moving round the Northern Region, familiarizing himself both Regional and constituency party executives and as well asking for their support ahead of the party flag bearer primaries
