This momentous occasion commemorates the chief’s forty years of leadership on the paramount skin of Kusaug.
Located at the ‘Bawku Highways’, a central hub of the territory, the monument holds great significance for the Kusaasi people. According to Solomon Awini, chairman of the Samanpiid committee, the residents of the area will ensure the monument’s protection from harm.
The unveiling ceremony was a grand celebration, attracting hundreds of natives and visitors.
The event featured vibrant cultural dances from across the Kusaug territory, performed at the palace of the Chief. Presidential aspirant Bernard Mornah attended the event, urging the youth of Bawku to channel their energy into productive ventures rather than violence.
This festive occasion precedes the Kusaasis’ 37th Samanpiid festival, scheduled for December 31. The festival is an annual celebration of a successful harvest and protection from their ancestors, serving as a unifying force for the tribe and a platform for reassessing their progress.
