Former Second Vice Chairman for the Ejisu Constituency, Kwabena Boateng, has emerged victorious in the New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary primary in the Ejisu Constituency of the Ashanti region. Apexnewsgh reports
Boateng polled overwhelming votes to secure a win in the primary election.
Boateng garnered 393 votes, defeating his closest contestant, Madam Helena Mensah, the Presiding Member of the Ejisu Municipal Assembly, who received 302 votes. The primary had a total of eight contestants vying for the NPP candidacy in the by-election scheduled for April 30, following the death of the area’s MP, John Kumah.
Other contestants in the primary included Madam Yaa Aboagye with 229 votes, Dr. Evans Duah with 61 votes, Kwesi Nyantakyi with 35 votes, Lawyer Portia Acheampong Abronye with 6 votes, Clinsman Karikari with 2 votes, Aaron Prince Duah with 2 votes, and Abena Pokua Amoah with 0 votes.
Boateng’s victory in the NPP parliamentary primary positions him as the party’s candidate for the upcoming by-election in the Ejisu Constituency. With a significant lead in the votes, Boateng is set to represent the NPP in the by-election as they seek to maintain their presence in the constituency.
