Former Ghana Football Association (GFA) president, Kwesi Nyantakyi, has thrown his hat into the ring for the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) parliamentary primary for Ejisu, aiming to replace the late Member of Parliament and Deputy Finance Minister, John Kumah. Apexnewsgh Reports
While Nyantakyi has faced opposition due to corruption allegations stemming from the infamous Number 12 exposé, he remains undeterred in his bid. Comparing himself to football superstar Cristiano Ronaldo, Nyantakyi believes he is the ideal candidate to fill the shoes left by Kumah.
However, not all aspirants are as determined as Nyantakyi. Kwame Kyeretwie-Amponsah, the director of external affairs for the NPP, has decided to withdraw his candidacy after consulting with senior party officials. Citing reasons of party unity and cohesion, Kyeretwie-Amponsah believes his current role within the party is more crucial for success in the upcoming elections.
Despite Kyeretwie-Amponsah’s withdrawal, there are still eight other potential candidates vying for the Ejisu seat. The full list includes Helena Mensa, Lawyer Kwabena Boateng, Lawyer Portia Baffoe Abronye, Pokuaa Boaitey, Dr. Evans Duah, Lawyer Kwasi Nyantakyi, Klinsman Karikari Mensah, Aaron Prince Duah, and Maame Yaa Aboagye.
With the parliamentary primary fast approaching, the competition in Ejisu remains fierce as the candidates vie for the opportunity to represent the NPP in the upcoming elections.
