The Ghana Police Service has recently in a statement announced the interdiction of three of its officers. Apexnewsgh.com reported
The officers in question are Commissioner of Police (COP) George Alex Mensah, Superintendent Emmanuel Eric Gyebi, and Superintendent Mr. George Lysander Asare. They have been suspended in connection with the Bugri Naabu audio tape, which is currently under investigation.
According to a statement released by the Ghana Police Service on Thursday, September 7, 2023, signed by Public Affairs Director ACP Grace Ansah-Akrofi, interdiction has been implemented to allow for disciplinary proceedings to be conducted in accordance with Police Service Regulations. The audio tape allegedly captured the three officers plotting to remove the current Inspector General of Police (IGP), Dr. George Akuffo Dampare.
On Thursday Sep 07 2023, an alleged plot occurred in the office of Chief Bugri Naabu, the former Northern Regional Chairman of the NPP.
Following the leak and viral spread of the tape on social media, Bugri Naabu and two other men were summoned before a Parliamentary adhoc committee to investigate the matter.
During their appearance before the committee, COP Mensah criticized Dr Dampare, stating that he is the worst IGP in Ghana’s history.
Supporting this statement, Superintendent Asare informed the committee that he had additional information to share, but preferred to do so behind closed doors.
