In the ongoing investigation into the plot to remove Dr. George Akuffo Dampare as IGP, one of the senior police officers implicated in the case has made some shocking allegations against Bugri Naabu, the star witness. The officer claims that Naabu set them up due to a lucrative contract worth 400,000 cedis to supply boots to the Ghana Police Service. Apexnewsgh.com report

During the Committee hearing on Monday, Superintendent George Asare refused to comment on certain leaked conversations where he accused Nana Asante Bediatuo, the executive secretary of President Akufo-Addo, of providing inaccurate information to his boss regarding the current IGP.

Furthermore, Supt Asare disclosed that he had met Bugri Naabu, the former NPP Northern Regional Chairman, at Naabu’s request.

According to the individual, his connection to Bugri Naabu is through his son, Emmanuel Bugri Naabu, who serves as his spiritual father.

He also claimed that Bugri Naabu, like COP Mensah, tampered with the audio recording by removing incriminating portions. According to him, Bugri Naabu suggested that the campaign to remove the IGP should not only be physical but also involve spiritual means, and he requested the consultation of certain spiritual leaders.

Similar to COP Mensah, Supt. Asare accused the current IGP of orchestrating the recording of the conversation and having it sent to him through certain officers in the service.

“I also have the same intel that the IGP agreed with Bugri Naabu after Bugri Naabu had gone to inform the IGP that ‘somebody wants your post so he has come to me,’” he stated.

Supt. Asare further stated that the committee’s investigation is pointless and a waste of money for the state, as the leaked audio originated from the IGP.

He expressed confidence that he has witnesses who are willing to testify before the committee in support of his claims.
