The former Upper East Regional Organizer of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) Yaw Mort who contested the just ended Council of State elections in the Upper East Region has issued a notice of appreciation to the people of the region even though he obtained no votes.
The election which was contested by 5 contenders saw the paramount chief for the Talensi traditional area ahead of other contenders after winning with 19 votes.
Pe Ditundini Adiali Thomas-More, the Paramount chief for the Chiana Traditional Area who doubles as the President of the Upper East Regional House of Chief got 6 votes.
Mr. Akurugu Eric Aligiyelah and Mr. Yaw Mort got no votes and Mr. Akamboe Ayirebasia a retired public servant obtained 5 votes.
However, despite the humiliating decision made by delegates, Mr. Mort said he do not begrudge anyone for their decision of not voting for me.
“I will like to thank you all who inspired, stood by, and/or contributed financially, materially, and spiritually towards the contest. It was an opportunity to bring governance to the doorstep of our people. It was a MOVEMENT to get things done right for our collective progress as a region”.
“We went out, we engaged the delegates. The feedback was positive”.
“Unfortunately, things changed against us. The delegates chose to abandon the MOVEMENT and seek other paths. I do not begrudge any. It was a contest. I have won a contest in the past and I have lost a contest in the past. LIFE is always good when we put our hope in the LORD”. Mr. Mort wrote in his notice of appreciation.
