Mahama Administration Urged to Revisit Assault Case at Jubilee House

Apexnewsgh

Security analyst Dr. Adam Bona has called on the John Mahama administration to revisit and punish the police officer who assaulted another officer at the Jubilee House in January 2017. Apexnewsgh reports

The incident, which was captured on surveillance video, showed ASP Jalil Bawa attacking DSP Nanka Bruce, the then-Director in charge of VVIP at the Flagstaff House.

The matter was raised in Parliament by Ras Mubarak, the then-Kumbungu lawmaker, but the investigation seemed to have stalled, with the Attorney General’s department not pursuing prosecution. Dr. Bona believes that the failure to punish ASP Jalil has emboldened him to commit other infractions with impunity.

ASP Jalil Bawa had been dismissed from the Ghana Police Service at the time of the incident but was later reinstated by the Akufo-Addo government and even given a special recommendation to attend the police academy.

Dr. Bona’s concerns highlight the need for accountability and justice in this case, and he hopes that the Mahama administration will take action to address this incident.
