In a surprise move, former President John Dramani Mahama, the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has left out experienced politicians Haruna Iddrisu and Muntaka Mubarak from his campaign team. Apexnewsgh reports

The exclusion has fueled speculation about a strained relationship between Mahama and the two former leaders of the NDC in Parliament.

The NDC’s General Secretary, Fifi Fiavi Kwetey, released the list of party executives forming the campaign team on June 19, 2024. Notably absent from the list are Haruna Iddrisu, the former Minority Leader, and Muntaka Mubarak, the former Chief Whip.

The campaign team includes Fifi Fiavi Kwetey as Campaign Coordinator, Dr. Joseph Yammin as Deputy Campaign Coordinator, and other party executives. The team will work under the guidance of a Campaign Steering Committee chaired by Johnson Asiedu Nketia.

The exclusion of Haruna Iddrisu and Muntaka Mubarak has sparked rumors about a rift between them and Mahama.

Many believe that the former president’s decision is a testament to the strained relationship. However, the NDC has not officially commented on the matter.

The development has generated interest among political observers, who are watching to see how this will affect the NDC’s chances in the upcoming elections.
