In a rally in Bolgatanga, Presidential candidate John Dramani Mahama took a swipe at his likely contender, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, saying Ghana requires an experienced leader, not an inexperienced “driver’s mate”. Apexnewsgh reports

Mahama emphasized the country’s dire situation, mismanaged by the current administration, necessitates a skilled team to put things right.

Referencing Bawumia’s self-description as a “driver’s mate”, Mahama argued that the Vice-President has admitted his lack of leadership skills, making him unfit to lead the country. In contrast, Mahama believes his experience and demonstrated ability to tackle crises make him the ideal candidate.

Mahama told the crowd, “We don’t need a driver’s mate… We need an experienced driver to move the car out of the ditch, put it back on the road, and drive us safely to our destination.”

He praised his running-mate, Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, as a competent co-driver who will help resolve the country’s crises. Mahama highlighted the historic significance of having a female Vice-President, inspiring women to strive for high positions.

Continuing to taunt Bawumia, Mahama said, “She’s not going to be a driver’s mate. She’s going to be a co-driver.” He urged electorates not to risk the country’s potential by voting for the NPP candidate, who has demonstrated a lack of experience and qualities to navigate Ghana out of its troubles.
