Former President John Dramani Mahama and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) have launched a comprehensive Youth Manifesto, promising to revolutionize entrepreneurship and skills development if elected in the December 7 polls. Apexnewsgh reports
The manifesto, unveiled in Accra on August 12, 2024, outlines a vision to create a vibrant ecosystem for youth entrepreneurship, with initiatives such as the “Adwumawura Programme” aimed at facilitating the creation, tracking, and mentoring of at least 10,000 youth-established businesses annually.
Mahama and the NDC have pledged to implement an expanded National Apprenticeship Programme, providing vocational training and start-up support for artisans, as well as skills training programs and start-up kits.
A Comprehensive Credit System will be developed specifically for youth entrepreneurs, along with a database of youth-run businesses to offer advisory services, marketplaces, and financial support.
The manifesto also promises the establishment of a Young Entrepreneurs Microcredit institution with a seed fund of GHS750 million to disburse affordable loans to young entrepreneurs.
In partnership with the private sector, the NDC will introduce Youth Innovation and Industrial Parks (YIIP) initiative to scale up small to medium enterprises created by young people, and leverage a Youth-In-Export-Initiative to stimulate foreign demand for Ghanaian products produced by young people.
Mahama’s vision is to unlock the potential of Ghana’s youth, providing them with the tools and support needed to succeed in business and drive economic growth.
