Former President and flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, has reaffirmed his commitment to revitalizing the Tema Oil Refinery (TOR) through a joint private-public partnership if elected President in the December 7 polls. Apexnewsgh reports
According to Mahama, the challenges facing the refinery stem from its state-owned status, and he is open to private sector involvement in revitalizing TOR.
The former President emphasized the need for a transparent process to bring in private participation, which is crucial in getting the refinery back into operation and running it efficiently.
He made these remarks during a meeting with stakeholders and players in the downstream petroleum sector, including the Association of Oil Marketing Companies, Chamber of Bulk Oil Distribution, Tanker Drivers Union, Chamber of Petroleum Consumers-Ghana, Institute of Energy Security, and other petroleum service providers.
The former President reiterated his dedication to building the “Ghana we all want,” which includes addressing the challenges and opportunities in the downstream petroleum sector.
Mr. Mahama further expressed gratitude to the participants and sector players for their constructive dialogue and valuable insights and called for collaborative work towards a more vibrant and sustainable petroleum industry for the benefit of all Ghanaians.
