Metro Mass Transit’s Monthly Revenue Rises Sharply Despite Smaller Fleet, Says MD Kale Ceasar

The Managing Director of Metro Mass Transit Limited (MMT), Mr. Kale Ceasar, has announced a remarkable increase in the company’s monthly revenue, now ranging between GH¢13 million and GH¢14 million, up from the previous average of GH¢8.7 million.

This significant financial turnaround comes even as the company operates with fewer buses than before.

Speaking to the media, Mr. Ceasar detailed the transformation underway at MMT. He attributed the improvement to the introduction of digital ticketing systems, more efficient route management, and strict measures to curb revenue leakages across the company’s depots nationwide.

Highlighting the impact of these reforms, Mr. Ceasar noted that while his predecessors routed 160 buses daily, the current fleet in operation is between 115 and 129 buses. “Even though we are currently operating with a reduced fleet, prudent management and innovation have helped us increase our monthly revenue substantially,” he said.

He explained that pilfering and revenue losses have dropped dramatically, with automation now covering almost ninety-eight percent of the parcel division—up from just forty percent. “People may take part of our money into their pockets, but not so much, this is very insignificant compared to what we inherited from our predecessors,” Mr. Ceasar remarked.

Looking ahead, he revealed that Metro Mass Transit is working to expand its fleet and modernise its operations with new buses expected under government-backed initiatives.

The MD expressed optimism that these ongoing improvements will not only secure the company’s financial recovery but also enhance service delivery, supporting the government’s broader goal of affordable and reliable public transport for all Ghanaians.
