The Minority in Parliament is calling for the immediate suspension of Sammy Gyamfi, the Acting CEO of Ghana GOLDBOD, following alarming allegations involving a viral video. In the footage,
Gyamfi was seen handing an undisclosed amount of US dollars to evangelist Patricia Oduro Koranteng, better known as Nana Agradaa, a former fetish priestess.
The incident has sparked public outrage, prompting the Chief of Staff to summon Gyamfi for an explanation. Although he issued a public apology, the backlash against his actions has only intensified.
During a press conference on Monday, May 12, 2025, Dr. Kabiru Tia Mahama, the Member of Parliament for Walewale and a member of the Finance Committee, expressed the Minority’s concerns. He urged the President to take swift action against Gyamfi, highlighting that his actions are in direct violation of the Code of Conduct, as well as the Forex Exchange Act and the Currency Act.
“Sammy Gyamfi should face immediate suspension as the acting CEO of the Ghana Gold Board,” Dr. Mahama asserted. “This is not just a matter of personal judgment; it is a serious breach of legal responsibility. Ignorance of the law is no excuse, especially for a lawyer of his stature, who fully understands the consequences of his actions.”
In addition to calling for Gyamfi’s suspension, the Minority is demanding a full-scale investigation into the source of the dollars displayed in the controversial video. “We need clarity on where those funds came from,” Dr. Mahama emphasized.
As the situation continues to unfold, Sammy Gyamfi’s fate remains uncertain, and the call for accountability echoes throughout the corridors of power in Ghana.
