Apexnewsgh

The Greater Accra Regional Police Command has given the green light to the Minority in Parliament to proceed with the second phase of the #OccupyBoGDemo, scheduled for July 30, 2024. Apexnewsgh reports

The protest aims to demand the removal of the Governor of the Bank of Ghana, Dr. Ernest Addison, and his deputies.

This decision follows a meeting between the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Members of Parliament and the Police on July 16, 2024, where they discussed the modalities of the protest. The Police have specified the route for the protest, which will begin at Obra Spot and proceed through Adabraka Farisco-Ridge Roundabout, National Theatre Traffic Light, High Court Complex, Atta Mills Highway, and terminate at the Kwame Nkrumah Museum.

The Police have also outlined certain conditions to ensure a peaceful protest. The organizers are required to:

– Take necessary steps to prevent any breach of peace
– Ensure that protestors conduct themselves in a peaceful manner before, during, and after the protest
– Select ten protestors to present the petition to the authorities

With these conditions in place, the Minority in Parliament is set to proceed with the second phase of the #OccupyBoGDemo, demanding accountability and change at the Bank of Ghana.
