His comments come amidst recent controversy involving Sammy Gyamfi, the Acting CEO of the Ghana Gold Board, who was recorded handing over U.S. dollars to evangelist Patricia Asiedua Asiamah, popularly known as Nana Agradaa.

Speaking on Channel One TV monitored by Apexnewsgh, Boamah-Nyarko acknowledged Gyamfi’s public apology but underscored the urgency of structured orientation for new appointees. “I believe in training and capacity building for new appointees. They have not been in public service, and they need guidance,” he stated.

The MP emphasized the necessity for training programs that cover essential topics like leadership, ethics, and good governance, designed to prepare appointees for their responsibilities in public office. “If you appoint people to public service, you need to give them some form of training so that they know how to conduct themselves in public spaces,” he added.

Supporting Boamah-Nyarko’s call, Larry Dogbey, Managing Editor of the Herald newspaper, highlighted the importance of reviving formal induction programs for public officials. He noted that the transition from political campaigning to governance requires a significant adjustment in behavior and professionalism.

“GIMPA had a program in the past for all public officials, including MPs who attended upon assuming office. We need to bring it back,” Dogbey asserted. He explained that post-election, officials must set aside combative campaign behaviors and adopt the decorum necessary for effective governance.

“The way you behave in politics is different from governance. Sometimes, even the way you smile can lead to misunderstandings. We have to address these issues through proper training,” he concluded.

As calls for reform intensify, Boamah-Nyarko’s advocacy serves as a vital reminder of the importance of equipping public officials with the tools they need to fulfill their roles responsibly and ethically.
