Samuel Nartey George, the Member of Parliament representing Ningo-Prampram, cautioned the outgoing Akufo-Addo-Bawumia administration against the practice of signing and backdating contracts in the wake of the upcoming 2024 general elections. Apexnewsgh reports

His remarks come amid rising concerns that the current government may attempt to secure last-minute deals that could constrain the incoming administration.

Taking to Facebook on December 12, Mr. George highlighted the potential dangers of such actions, declaring that any contracts executed after the elections would not be acknowledged by the incoming Mahama-led government. He underscored that any attempts to undermine the authority of the new administration through these maneuvers would be viewed as a direct threat to the democratic process and the new government’s policy objectives.

“The attempt to sign a contract on the ghana.gov platform should cease with immediate effect,” Mr. George stated firmly. “We are monitoring all activities currently underway regarding the signing and backdating of contracts. Notice is duly served.”

His assurance to the public further emphasized that the Mahama administration is committed to safeguarding the integrity of governance and will take necessary measures to prevent any actions that could disrupt the transition of power.
