In a move that’s sparked concerns among national service personnel, the National Service Personnel Association (NASPA) has announced a GH₵100 deduction from February allowances nationwide. Apexnewsgh reports
This deduction aims to cover the cost of the National Service Cloth, which was distributed to personnel earlier.
According to NASPA, the deduction will be applied uniformly to all service personnel. However, personnel enrolled in the SIC insurance scheme will face additional deductions to settle four months of unpaid insurance contributions. This move is intended to ensure compliance with contractual obligations.
The announcement has raised eyebrows among some service personnel, who argue that the deductions were not adequately communicated in advance. However, NASPA has assured members that further updates regarding the deductions and other financial matters will be provided in due course.
The National Service Cloth is intended to promote unity and identity among service members. However, the deduction has sparked concerns about the impact on personnel’s already modest allowances. Many personnel rely on the allowance as their primary source of income, and any reduction could strain their financial stability.
